A GUIDE FOR GSA SER OPERATORS
AI search, backlinks and the work worth automating
AI has changed the route between a question and a website visit. That deserves a better response than either abandoning SEO or buying more links on faith.
An answer can arrive before the visit
A person can read an AI summary, refine a question or open a cited source. Those paths do not all produce a visit to your site. Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode include supporting links and may use query fan-out: several related searches across subtopics and sources. Google says this can surface a wider, more diverse set of links than a classic search. Treating AI citations as a list restricted to Google's top ten misses that distinction. [4]
There is evidence of pressure on clicks, but it needs its date attached. Pew's July 2025 analysis of browsing by 900 US adults found fewer traditional-result clicks on searches with AI summaries. It observed March browsing and recaptured search results in April; it was not a controlled experiment or a current global traffic forecast. [8] Use that finding as a reason to inspect your own traffic, not as a percentage to subtract from every site's prospects.
Ask which questions still bring interested visitors and what those visitors do next. A page that helps someone compare, check a detail or complete a task has a purpose beyond appearing in a screenshot of search results.
Web retrieval and link analysis still exist
Google still lists link analysis and PageRank among its ranking systems. It also describes many other systems and signals. That supports a limited, useful conclusion: links remain part of how Google understands and ranks pages. It does not establish that every new backlink helps, or that link quantity overrides content and relevance. [5]
For Google's AI features, a supporting page must be indexed and eligible for a search snippet. Google continues to recommend ordinary SEO fundamentals, including accessible content and internal links. [4] OpenAI separately says ChatGPT can search the web and may cite sources in responses using search. Placement depends on multiple factors and is not guaranteed. Every answer does not necessarily browse. [7]
Neither source supplies a causal chain from GSA tiers to Google rankings to ChatGPT citations. Maintain your website as a useful, accessible source; assess search traffic and AI references separately.
Automate repetition; keep the decisions
GSA SER provides project controls for platforms, content, filters, proxies and CAPTCHA services, along with registration and link-checking functions. Those are software capabilities, not evidence of ranking efficacy. [3] Automation can repeat a configured task. It cannot decide whether a particular publication is worth being associated with your business.
Before starting a project, decide what the target page is for, where your content belongs and what output you will inspect. Review the resulting pages, not just the activity log. If a target accepts a submission but leaves unreadable content or an irrelevant placement, a higher submission rate does not fix the choice.
A link list addresses target supply. SER Power Lists provides general lists, top-tier selections, contextual opportunities, a mostly dofollow mix and automated URL deduplication. Articles, forums, social bookmarking and wikis are priorities while we seek useful opportunities across GSA SER-supported platforms. You still supply the campaign, content and operating resources.

Tiers describe where a link points
Tier 1 links point directly to the site being promoted. Tier 2 links point to those Tier 1 pages. Tier 3 links point to Tier 2 pages. These names describe campaign architecture; they do not certify quality, efficacy or safety.
Separating projects can help an operator keep destinations and settings deliberate. Direct placements deserve close review because they link to the property you care about. A forum, wiki or article label alone tells you little about the actual page, its content or its audience. No universal anchor ratio or links-per-day rule follows from this diagram.
The Google policy boundary
Google defines links created primarily to manipulate rankings as link spam, explicitly including automated programs or services that create links. Tier separation, buffer sites and manual creation do not provide immunity. Violations can lead to lower rankings or exclusion from results. [6] Choose your approach with that boundary understood; a well-organised project is not automatically a compliant one.
Measure each outcome on its own
A campaign report should let you tell what happened without filling the gaps with assumptions. Keep these checks separate:
- Creation: did a submission produce a page or link? A sent form is only an attempt.
- Verification: can your tool find the link now? Recheck later to learn whether it survives.
- Indexing: is the relevant page included in the search engine's index? A verified link does not answer that.
- Rankings: where does the target page appear for the queries and locations you track?
- Clicks and conversions: did people arrive, and did they take a useful action?
- Observed AI citations: did a particular answer cite the page? Record the question, system, date and source URL so the observation can be checked.
LPM and VPM help you inspect campaign activity. They are not substitutes for the last three checks. Keep a baseline, record configuration changes and avoid attributing every movement to your latest batch of links. Google's own guidance recommends examining search traffic alongside conversions and other site analytics. [4]
Three claims to question
“AI killed SEO, so websites no longer matter.”
AI search still uses web sources. The visitor's route has changed; the need for an accessible, useful destination has not disappeared. Google's documentation explicitly keeps SEO fundamentals relevant. [4]
“If a page ranks in Google, ChatGPT will cite it.”
A Google position is not a ChatGPT placement guarantee. OpenAI describes its own search selection and says placement is not guaranteed. Check actual citations rather than inferring them from rankings. [7]
“Buying a list means buying a strategy.”
A list supplies places to evaluate and use with your projects. It does not write the strategy, run a managed campaign or guarantee visibility. Buy it when target preparation is work you want to reduce, and judge it within the setup you actually intend to run.
Need target supply for that workflow?
SER Power Lists keeps the offer specific: GSA SER link lists with top-tier selections, contextual opportunities and automatic URL deduplication. Review the features, operating requirements and purchase terms before choosing a subscription.
